Coffee production in Thailand began as a revolutionary
alternative cash crop to opium in the 1970’s. Today, Thailand has a very unique
resurgence of young, passionate coffee farmers embracing the art of specialty
cultivation. Local tariffs on imported coffees as well as high domestic demand means
farming coffee has become a viable career choice for these young farmers and
they’re planting interesting local arabica varieties and experimenting with processing
methods. We’re seeing cup score moving beyond the mid 80’s leaving us excited about
what the future holds!
