A BIT ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This coffee is produced by an ambitious and visionary group of K’ho Farmers in a mountain area called Da Ron in Southern Vietnam.
It represents the start of a new relationship with an inspiring farmer group and another exceptional addition to our Roads Less Travelled Series. This relationship is a match made in heaven as we share the same values of using coffee production as a catalyst for improved opportunities for the local community.

THE STORY
This coffee represents a new partnership in the Old Quarter line-up. Over the past year, we have developed a close relationship with the inspiring Bondong family. Brother & sister Mr Uck and Ms My Len are both leaders in their community, It’s important to them that their K’ho community retain their identity, their land and have opportunities in a modernising and competitive world. They are utilising and improving on their multi-generational coffee farming background, in order to provide opportunity for the wider community.
Its story both challenges and hope. We are constantly inspired by the work of Uck, My Len and their family. We’re happy to partner with them not only because the coffee is great but because the work they are doing is important. Coffee is just one catalyst to help provide new opportunities for the future of their wonderful K’ho community.
Da Ron mountain is one of the peaks in Lam Dong province where Arabica coffee is cultivated. This farm is planted with a local Catimor variant but also has some older Typica trees here and there. The coffee is processed without any additional fermentation, so we taste a true profile of this coffee. Red & ripe cherries are hand-picked, washed & floated, and then hand-sorted for defects. The cherries are then dried on covered raised drying tables in a thin layers and are turned multiple times per day until the correct moisture content is reached.
Focusing on quality at every step, Mr Uck is keen to show an example of how improved production attracts better buyer relationships with the goal of including more Kh’o farmer members to his group. Uck’s group is also producing some of Vietnam’s best Robusta–which we hope to showcase in the near future.
