A BIT ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This coffee is grown by smallholder ethnic minority farmers across a handful of villages in the Southern Shan region of eastern Myanmar. Each family has approximately 1-3 acres and interplants their organic coffee gardens with shade trees and other food crops. We’ve been buying and loving this coffee for 8 years & it’s totally lovely and agreeable as ever.

THE STORY
Small rural villages with big potential! We began buying coffee from this part of Myanmar 7 years ago. It was our third origin and buying relationship. The growers here predominantly belong to the Pa’O ethnic minority group. They have been mentored in agronomy from Winrock International (NGO) and now have ongoing support from local Q-grade, Q-processing accredited mentors. These farmers are doing a spectacular job, and we're so stoked to share their unique coffee.
In Myanmar, though coffee has been grown on a small scale for a long time, cultivation generally commenced in the 1980s with the government’s opium eradication program.
Despite many ongoing political challenges, the coffee quality from Myanmar is a standout. In a part of the world that often faces political and social challenges, we are grateful to be able to buy their coffee, maintain our support and share it with you.
